Getting Ready for Indian Market

Published by admin under Uncategorized

My timing is all wrong to update my website blog.  But, I’m waiting on frames and have a few minutes to get back in touch with my tech y side.  Actually, I’m not at all savvy on how to upload my images and have forgotten all my web site advisers (my kids) have told me.  They’ll be helping me upload the new images.

We’ll be leaving here next week for the Santa Fe Indian Market.  It’s one of the premier shows in the nation.   I work all year getting ready.  I started earlier than usual this summer so I wouldn’t be under the gun.  That’s a great concept but I’m still pressed for time and in a panic on getting ready.

Before we leave, we’ll be cutting hay and checking pastures.  My garden is in it’s peak right now and not to mention all my husband Jim has to do with his business and customers before we can drive out of here.  But it always works out.  Either that or I just have to go with what I’ve got and head down the road.

Santa Fe is a magical place.  The warm days and late afternoon thundershowers coming over the mountain remind me how much I love the landscape.  It’s similar to Wyoming where I grew up.  The green chili cuisine is beyond description.  We see fellow artists we only see at Indian Market and we get to see good friends from coast to coast we’ve made over the15 years, I’ve been doing the show.  I’m excited, nervous, and anxious to get to Santa Fe.  It’s a tough week but one I look forward to.  The last day of market comes all to soon and we head home exhausted.

My mixed media pieces this year will include two miniature horse masks.  New ideas are always a challenge but I’m happy with the results.

I’ve also done 5 new pastels for Indian Market.  My new embossed edition, “Canyon Sunrise”, was inspired from the early morning we left Santa Fe last year.

Hopefully, I’ll see you in Santa Fe.

My Tech Support Team Was Home for Easter

Published by admin under Uncategorized

Our kids came home for Easter and they showed me how to upload images to my blog.  December Series 1 placed in the drawing category at the Heard Fair in Phoenix March 1 & 2.  This pastel miniature is approximately 3 1/2″ x 5″.  The piece sold to a private collector in Scottsdale and December Series II sold at the fair as well.

Over the Christmas holiday, Jim (my husband) and I took a road trip through Utah.  We spent time near Moab and Arches National Park.  The light snow was a touch of wonder to the incredibly beautiful landscape.  There is so much beauty there I have a fresh supply of inspiration.  Look for more pastels in the near future.

Home Safe and Sound

Published by admin under Uncategorized

The Heard Museum Fair in Phoenix took 2 months to prepare for working nearly every day in the studio.  Finally, we were on our way.  The weather was wonderful all the way down, while we were there, and on the way back.  I was awarded a prize on one of the new pastels I did just in time to go.  The other sold as well.  We stay with wonderful hosts in Scottsdale and truly enjoyed getting together with our art family after not seeing them over the winter.  The Heard Fair is always great and welcoming.

My new embossed images went well in Phoenix.  Once again, we met wonderful people and enjoyed ourselves at the Fair.  Now, it’s time to play catch up on everything I had to put aside while in the studio….like income taxes and bookwork.  We are looking for spring here in the sandhills of Nebraska.  The baby calves are coming and the days are getting longer.  All we need now are warm days, gentle rains, and more time…..

Today was my goal to be done cutting mats and shrink wrapping.  I didn’t make it.  Ten days from now we leave for Phoenix and the Heard Museum Art Fair.  There is still plenty of time but I want to do a couple of pastels before we go.  I am happy with my new images.  They are on one of the previous blogs for you to see first.  I have a new paper color and I’m experimenting with mats to compliment it.  It’s late so I think I will call it a day and reset my target finish date to tomorrow……..

I’m Getting Into This

Published by admin under Uncategorized

It’s cold today but the sun is shining and promise of melting temperatures the rest of the week.  After forcing myself here at the desk to do bookwork for my husband, I’m headed back to the studio.  With any luck, I will be done gold leafing tommorow and will begin cutting mats.  The Heard Fair in Phoenix is steam rolling in and I’m beginning to panic.  Friday we get the day off though as we will travel to Kearney to gather up our friends Norm and Linda after they both have some surgery that day.  We’ll help them get home to rest so we can get on with cribbabe and golf…..That is after the Heard of course…For now so long.  I’m burried in the studio.

Getting In Gear

Published by admin under Uncategorized

Well, don’t you think it’s about time I catch a new gear and get in touch with my website. As usual, I’m trying to get ready for a show and never enough time to set down and take care of updating my website. But, with total help of my daughter, Chessney, I’m ready to begin my journey into the cyberworld. I’ll be working on updating the images as I can. For a few days, I’ll be exploring my options between hours gold leafing in the studio. I’ve just finished three new plates for 2008. Preview them here!

Thanks to Chessney! It’s difficult for her to update my site and babysit me through this journey with running after Jymie (our grandaughter) and getting ready for the Heard Fair in Phoenix herself. I can do this…..I can do this…I can do this…………
